Tweaking the Playoffs/Concert Etiquette

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Tonight’s (on)topic: Tweaking the Playoffs

This is a great twitter thread from The Ringer’s overlord, Bill Simmons, on how he would tweak the playoffs to reduce tanking, generate the league more money, and provide maximum viewership. I am a huge fan of his idea from top-to-bottom. I like the idea of rewarding teams who win the play-in tournament the 31st overall pick in the draft and some extra moolah for their troubles.

A first-round match-up featuring the Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves would be an incredible boon to basketball this side of the Great Lakes. I don’t know how the Bucks would fare in that series considering they got blown out the last time the two teams played, and Milwaukee’s win against Minnesota was an insane comeback effort aided by the T-Wolves playing a tired second half in the final game of a back-to-back.

How do we feel about this playoff tweak and how would the Bucks fare in a first round match-up with the Timberwolves?

Tonight’s (off)topic: Concert Etiquette

Saturday night I went to the Bon Iver concert at the Bradley Center and I was floored by how few cell phones were on and being used to photograph and record the concert. I know photos and videos were taken, but at least in my little area, no one was being overly annoying about it. There was no excessive phone usage blocking my view.

The concert was fine-to-alright but the overall crowd atmosphere was fantastic (maybe that’s just the contact high I got from the guy vaping next to me talking). I have never been a big “have to document this” kind of guy, but I’ll try and covertly snap a pic or two when the moment strikes. Any concert horror stories of people showing poor etiquette?

As a general rule, non-basketball topics are permitted in an open thread, provided that they follow the SB Nation Community Guidelines.
