Around the League Recap/Tax Day

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Tonight’s (on) topic: Around the League Recap

So here is the updated playoff bracket now that every series has played at least one game:

NBA.com

After the first wave of games I think there are just two series that I would wager on not going longer than five games. The Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers both looked so much more superior in their opening game victories that I would be surprised if they lost twice over the next few games.

I think the most disappointing Game 1 performance goes to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Getting pummeled at home against a division rival did not inspire the most confidence in anyone that picked Cleveland would make it four straight Eastern Conference titles. Kudos to the Indiana Pacers on punching the playground bully right in the mouth, so to speak.

The two top seeds eked out victories with the Toronto Raptors able to finally win a Game 1. While the Houston Rockets almost D’Antoni-ed their opening game but cobbled together enough of a strong performance to come away out on top.

The Pacers and New Orleans Pelicans got the Game 1 upsets and flipped home court advantage in their favor, will any other road team join the pair once all the Game 2’s are done?

Tonight’s (off) topic: Tax Day

This will serve as your last reminder that your taxes are due tomorrow, unless you filed for an extension, in which case I don’t know when your taxes will be due. Hopefully you all received, or will receive, nice returns to help yourselves out. I threw my return into my savings account and am just waiting to get the security deposit back on my old apartment, so I can combine the two on a principal payment on my car loan. Hooray lower monthly payments!

As a general rule, non-basketball topics are permitted in an open thread, provided that they follow the SB Nation Community Guidelines.
