Brew Hoop Night Shift: May 11th, 2018

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Tonight’s (on) topic: Dwane Casey Out

After a franchise record 59-win season, Dwane Casey is out of the Toronto Raptors organization. The presumptive Coach of the Year will no longer be the coach for the team that he coached well enough to win the award. Three straight playoff exits courtesy of LeBron James probably had a lot to do with this coaching shake-up. I saw something on twitter along the lines of, “What if the Jazz fired Jerry Sloan after the 1998 Finals?” While I understand that line of thinking, back-to-back conference championships and coming tantalizing close to a title twice against Michael Jordan, is not the same as getting waxed by another generational GOAT pre-Finals.

What does this mean for the Bucks? Well, I think Nick Nurse (who does not appear to be in the Bucks’ coaching mix anyhow) will slot into the now-vacant gig. Other questions stemming from this move: should the Bucks go after Casey? Does Mike Budenholzer go to Toronto instead of Milwaukee? I think they should give Casey a look, and if the Raptors decide to not promote Nurse, I have a feeling Bud prefers Toronto to Milwaukee, I don’t know why I have that feeling, I just do.

Tonight’s (off) topic:

Another trip down memory lane and all the glory that was the post-Jordan/pre-LeBron dominance decade. I pulled out a 137/153 and there were two players I should have nailed, but had a brain fart.
