Brew Hoop Night Shift: May 9th, 2018

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Tonight’s (on) topic: Coaches’ “Coach of the Year” Vote

Toronto Raptors’ boss, Dwane Casey, was the leading vote receiver for the Coach of the Year award, according to his peers. I cannot find much fault in thinking that Casey should be CoY. He scrapped a lot of his personal philosophies and created a modern scheme that fit his roster. The Raptors were a 59-win team because of his Casey refusing to be a stubborn coach.

The interesting part of the vote was that Boston Celtics head coach, Brad Stevens, did not receive a single vote from any of his peers. Stevens is rightly regarded as a top coach in the league and did a fantastic job this season. I’m sure the arrival of an All-NBA guard in Kyrie Irving, as well as having three top-six picks all play at the high-calibers they should be playing at did not impress the other coaches like the job Casey did.

At least Jason Kidd is on the same level as Stevens in something.

Tonight’s (off) topic:

I was only able to muster a 35/50 and got all but two of the players on the right hand column. I did not think this one would be as tough for me as it ended up being.
