I know this trade will almost definitely never happen for several reasons. However, it seems like a fun trade that would be unbelievably good for the Bucks and also be good for the Bulls and Wizards. I believe it works financially as long as Jabari and LaVine aren't getting outrageous contracts (and it might still work even if they are).
The Trade
- Bucks get: Brad Beal
- Bucks send: Bledsoe, Jabari (S&T)
- Bulls get: John Wall
- Bulls send: LaVine (S&T), Portis, Dunn
- Wizards get: Bledsoe, Jabari, LaVine, Portis, Dunn
- Wizards send: Beal, Wall
Why would each team do it?
- For the Bucks, it is simple addition by subtraction. Gain a top 5 SG, lose Bledsoe and Jabari. It hurts to lose Bledsoe, but Beal is a better player, younger, and locked up to a reasonable contract. Using Jabari to facilitate this trade is fine (though he might not even be needed considering the haul Washington is getting. Despite losing their starting PG, the Bucks are secure with a Big 3 of Giannis, Beal, a top tier scorer, and Khris, a fantastic 3rd option scorer and passer. Beal and Giannis would be locked in for 3 years each and I would begin working on a new contract for Khris.
- For the Bulls, they add a dynamic point guard who can distribute to their team of non-creators. LaVine was super inefficient last year and they may be tired of him already. They reportedly are mad at Dunn. They probably secretly want to get rid of Portis. Wall upgrades their biggest weakness and fits well with Markkanen and Wendell Carter and gives their fanbase an exciting point guard that the team hasn't had since pre-injury Derrick Rose. If needed, the trade could be expanded to include the Bucks taking Omer Asik and sending Tony Snell to the Wizards.
- For the Wizards, they do this to shake up their fractured, dysfunctional core. Beal doesn't like Wall, Wall isn't working with the roster, and they are sliding the wrong direction as a team. This shakes things up and gives them tons of new talent for Scott Brooks to work with. Getting out from under Wall's contract, considering his problems with the rest of the team, might even come as a relief. They get three young and very athletic guys to rehabilitate in Jabari, LaVine, and Portis (or like I said, maybe they wouldn't even want Jabari; they might want Snell for some depth). They also don't have to keep Oubre, which is probably what they would prefer.
