Brew Hoop Night Shift: June 7th, 2018

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Tonight’s (on) topic: Sixers Saga Ends

It is only fitting that one of the weirdest story lines from this past season came to an even weirder, but ultimately correct, conclusion today. It was baffling that the Philadelphia 76ers’ decision makers did not fire Bryan Colangelo immediately considering his wife was tweeting out pretty sensitive information in regards to players’ health and character, but alas, he is now out as Sixers GM, albeit after a few days.

I had no idea that Bryan Colangelo’s dad, Jerry Colangelo, is an employee of the Philadelphia 76ers and that he was threatening to damage the Sixers’ relationships around the league if his son would be fired. Poppa Colangelo was acting like an obnoxious little league dad because he felt his son was not getting enough playing time or being treated like the little star he is.

At least the Bucks are not this dysfunctional - at least that we know of anyway.

Tonight’s (off) topic: World Cup

We are one week away from kicking off the 2018 World Cup in Russia and this year’s edition will be without the United States. I assume that for most of you, that is a determining factor as to whether or not you will tune in.

For those tuning in regardless, I think the defending champs, Germany, will go back-to-back and take down Brazil in the final. There is always a surprise country to sneak into the quarterfinals (Ghana in 2010, Costa Rica in 2014) and this year I think it will be Nigeria based solely on their incredible jerseys.

As a general rule, non-basketball topics are permitted in an open thread, provided that they follow the SB Nation Community Guidelines.
