Brew Hoop Night Shift: July 26th, 2018

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Tonight’s (on) topic:

The grand opening of the newly named Fiserv Forum will take place the day after Labor Day (don’t wear white!) and feature Milwaukee’s own Violent Femmes opening for The Killers.

Hell. Yeah.

The Violent Femmes first entered my music lexicon in an episode of How I Met Your Mother where Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hanigan) get a prospective wedding band to play “their song” at a high school prom (goodness that show was a mess). The song was “Good Feeling” and from there, newly teenaged me discovered their self-titled debut album (recorded in Lake Geneva).

As for The Killers, their debut album, Hot Fuss, came out around the same time I was introduced to the Violent Femmes. No one could escape the clutches of “Mr. Brightside” as it dominated the radio and middle school me ate that album up. This a very Greg-friendly concert billing, so this gets a big thumbs up, except for that Tuesday night date, what the heck.

Enjoy some tunes, folks.

Tonight’s (off) topic: Blue Cheese

I cannot stand the stench of blue cheese, and would never ever let any near my hot wings. The consistency of it just so, blech. It’s not a cheese that was ever for me, but I get how some could like it — it is an acquired taste.
