Brew Hoop Night Shift: August 20th, 2018

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Tonight’s (on) topic:

The prodigal son is heading back to European hoops now that his second stint with the Milwaukee Bucks ended after half of a season. Jennings played in Italy after his high school career and decided to make some money playing basketball before the NBA instead of playing for nothing at the NCAA level.

Zenit St. Petersburg has finished third in Russia’s top tier basketball league, the United League, each of the past three season and has qualified for the EuroCup tournament four years in a row. EuroCup is a tier below the EuroLeague tournament which is where everyone consumed Luka Doncic highlights.

You may remember St. Petersburg as Leningrad and was the sight of a two and a half year long siege from Axis forces during World War II. The city is the northwest corner of the country and looks to be equidistant to Finland and Estonia. The average temperature during the basketball season ranges from an average high up to 47 degrees to an average low down to 16 degrees.

Good luck in Russia BJ3!

Tonight’s (off) topic: Wisconsin State Dog

I had no idea that state’s had official dog breeds! I also had no idea that American Water Spaniels were a popular hunting dog, but it makes sense given they have a coat that lends itself nicely to all of the various outdoor conditions.

I thought the American Water Spaniel would be the most unique state dog out there, but I think New Hampshire takes that distinction by naming the Chinook as their state dog. Turns out what I thought were German Shepherds mixed with a breed that does not have pointy ears, is actually a Chinook. The more you know.

As a general rule, non-basketball topics are permitted in an open thread, provided that they follow the SB Nation Community Guidelines.
