Brew Hoop Night Shift: August 21st, 2018

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Tonight’s (on) topic:

The WNBA Playoffs begin and I had no idea that the first two rounds are single elimination —talk about heightened drama.

Eight teams make the post-season with the fifth seed taking on the eighth seed, and the sixth seed battling it out with the seventh seed in the first round. After those two single elimination games, the third seed dukes it out with the lowest remaining seed, while the fourth seed duels it out with the highest remaining seed in another single elimination round.

Then the winners of those games take on one of the top two seeds in a five game semi-final round. Imagine if the NBA playoffs had that structure for their playoffs.

The East would have been:

Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics with double byes

Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers with first-round byes

Indiana Pacers vs. Washington Wizards

Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks

How would the Bucks have fared? The Heat are a big thorn in the paw, but in one game I am betting on Giannis Antetokounmpo. So assuming the Pacers also advance, the Bucks would take on the 76ers and who knows how that would have turned out.

Tonight’s (off) topic:

Some of these I knew, others I had no idea, and the rest were big time stretches to grasp any sort of hidden logo.

I thought the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Mavericks were obvious and the Baltimore Orioles logo has always been an optical illusion to me.

I genuinely had no idea the Washington Capitals utilized the Capitol Building at the bottom of their logo and I feel so stupid for not seeing it. Same goes for the Houston Rockets resembling a rocket take off, that is something I will never un-see.

Of course, the Milwaukee Brewers have one of the greatest hidden/double logos in all of sports:
