Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.
Tonight’s (on) topic:
ESPN story on likely NBA rule changes for the 2018-19 season, including resetting shot clock, clear path fouls and expanding 'hostile act" definition for replay review. https://t.co/BkeYU4VgB0— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) August 23, 2018
I like the three rule changes!
I am not too sure how much impact the shot clock resetting to 14 seconds after an offensive rebound will have, since most offensive rebounds are tip-ins/put-back, or immediate kick-outs for three-pointers. I get that in the waning moments of the game it will be a huge factor, so it should be a fun wrinkle for those late game situations.
The overhaul of the clear path foul language is great. Now we will hopefully see more transition dunks and less cop-out fouls. The world needs more Giannis Antetokounmpo transition jams.
Expanding the hostile act to include acts towards referees is long overdue. I cannot wait to see how this gets implemented on Draymond Green.
Tonight’s (off) topic:
I embarrassingly got a 7/30. After a string of several consecutive non-NBA teams, I briefly let my guard down and clicked on the Chicago Bulls. I suck.
As a general rule, non-basketball topics are permitted in an open thread, provided that they follow the SB Nation Community Guidelines.
