Milwaukee Bucks Announce Training Camp Roster

Four players enter, but only one can win!

NBA: Milwaukee Bucks at Los Angeles Lakers Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

With Media Day looming on Monday, the buzz around the Milwaukee Bucks is starting to pick up. In preparation for this event, the Bucks have finalized the score of players being brought in by announcing their roster for camp.

Bucks fans know Tyler Zeller already, since he has been on the team since the “fated” Rashad Vaughn trade last season. We’re also familiar with Shabazz Muhammad, who finished the year in Milwaukee, and Christian Wood, who headlined the Las Vegas Summer League first team. Wood was able to secure a moderately-sized bag for his time in September and October, and has a real shot at making the team.

The least-familiar name is Tim Frazier, a point guard who exists in the NBA. He finished the year with the Washington Wizards, and has a career A/TO ratio of 3:1 (which is good) and an eFG% of 0.447 (which is not). The Bucks lack significant depth at point guard, so there’s no harm in bringing a guy in...but a career 31.3% three-point shooter doesn’t inspire much in the imagination.

The team’s official 20-man training camp roster is:

Guaranteed contracts: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Eric Bledsoe, Malcolm Brogdon, Sterling Brown, Pat Connaughton, Matthew Dellavedova, Donte DiVincenzo, John Henson, Ersan Ilyasova, Brook Lopez, Thon Maker, Khris Middleton, Tony Snell, D.J. Wilson

Non-guaranteed contracts: Tim Frazier, Shabazz Muhammad, Christian Wood, Tyler Zeller

Two-Way contracts: Trevon Duval, Jaylen Morris

Fans already got a sneak peek at a handful of hopefuls from Kevin Hart, of all people, when he headlined one of Fiserv Forums first events. Giannis, Khris, Bledsoe, Sterling, and Wilson were there, along with a few of the guys fighting for the fifteenth spot.

All things considered, the Bucks have a bona fide Roster Spot Battle on their hands! It somehow feels more exciting than last summer’s iteration (where Gerald Green was sent packing and DeAndre Liggins was not), despite the fact that the overall impact is probably going to be about the same. For what it’s worth, I favor either of the centers over Shabazz, and Shabazz (because he’s a microwave) over Frazier (because he’s not). But let’s let you, the reader, decide!
