In what could very well be a preview of a playoff matchup a couple months down the road, the Bucks knocked off the Boston Celtics, 98-97.
Both teams were clearly rusty out of the gates. It’d take a while for everyone to find their footing, and understandably so considering this was the first game after the All-Star break. Following one, Milwaukee would be down 22-20. At half, they’d rebound for a 53-47 lead.
It’d be pretty even until the late minutes of the game where the drama was flowing profusely. After a very confusing series of events that ended up being ruled a shot clock violation on Milwaukee, Kyrie Irving would miss what would’ve been a game-winning shot, giving Milwaukee the huge win. Wow.
Stat That Stood Out
Let’s go with the newest Buck and his debut! Nikola Mirotic quickly showed why the Bucks made it a priority to acquire him over the trade deadline, splashing home a pair of threes. We knew exactly what he was capable of, and it was extremely sweet to see him do just that — hit threes. Despite only playing 14 minutes, all of our suspicions were confirmed tonight. Nikola Mirotic is going to be a very fun fit in this offense, and there is much more to come. It’s going to be a very fun ride the next couple months.
