It isn’t surprising news given the trends in All-Star voting over the past couple months, but it’s finally official: Giannis Antetokounmpo will be a captain in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game:

Toronto's Pascal Siakam
Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo (captain)
Philadlephia’s Joel Embiid
And for those who want a better idea of how the starting lineups are picked, here’s Alex Kennedy with a breakdown of where each player racked up support:

This represents confirmation of Giannis’s absolute dominance this season. The counting stats are bonkers, the advanced stats even moreso, the Bucks are on their way to perhaps the greatest season in franchise history, and that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the star power his personality radiates.
Congrats to Giannis for the well-deserved nod! You’re a special player, and every day we get to watch you do your thing with “Milwaukee” on your chest is like a dream come true.
Now we get to settle in and see who else — if anyone — will also make the All-Star roster from Milwaukee.
