58 TS% + 24 USG% Playoff Performers

In a discussion with OldResorter, I became intrigued by this playoff category. Players who have put up 58 or higher True Shooting Percentage and 24 or higher Usage across their team's run in the playoffs.

The numbers are obviously somewhat arbitrary (58 TS with 24 USG isn't inherently better than 57 TS with 26 USG), but they're fun to look at for an idea of who the elite scoring performers have been. I also added 30 minutes/game as a filter.

Here is a breakdown of the players from the last 5 years who have gotten those stats. (the positions don't really matter)

  • Lebron James - 2017
  • Lebron james - 2016
  • Jamal Murray - 2020
  • Damian Lillard - 2020
  • Steph Curry - 2019
  • Steph Curry - 2018
  • Steph Curry - 2017

  • Chris Paul - 2017
  • Mike Conley - 2017
  • Dennis Schroder - 2017
  • Tony Parker - 2017 (year of the playoff point guard)

  • Nikola Jokic - 2019
  • Anthony Davis - 2020
  • Anthony Davis - 2018
  • Greg Monroe - 2017
  • Marc Gasol - 2017 (23.5)

Totals

  • Players Appearing 5 Times in 5 Years: none
  • Players Appearing 4 Times: Lebron, Steph, Kawhi
  • Players Appearing 3 Times: Durant
  • Players Appearing 2 Times: Harden, Paul George, Giannis, Davis, Jokic

Observations:

  • There are only 3 current teams with 3 or more of these players on their roster: Bucks (Giannis, Khris, Jrue) and Lakers (Lebron, Davis, Schroder, Gasol) and Nuggets (Jokic, Murray, Millsap)
  • The Bucks needs Jrue and Khris to step up to win in the playoffs; if all three of our guys have this type of performance, we win the championship with relative ease imo. If two of the three do, we can win the championship. If only one does, we'll lose.
  • Giannis, Jokic, and Davis are all younger than 28 (Jokic the youngest at 25). They have a lot more years to keep appearing on this list; are we seeing the comeback of the big man?
