Every Monday at 5:00 PM Central this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. This is your place to discuss all the NBA’s action happening during the week when the Bucks are off-duty.
It feels a little weird writing this with something like half a season still left to play, but we may have already seen Milwaukee’s best basketball this regular season. That’s not to say we’re bound to play poorly the rest of the way, but the reality of nagging injuries (knees, legs, ankles, etc.), a slew of Western Conference opponents in the near future, and the process of grafting on new acquisitions (Tucker, maybe Austin Rivers, maybe another player?) mean a full-tilt Bucks team is beyond our reach until the playoffs.
There’s nothing wrong with that, either. The main pieces should have a good idea of their roles in the rotation and team strategy, and minute allocations now are going to be more about tinkering with marginal changes to explore viable options for countering post-season opponents. We’re a team comfortable with adjusting their line of sight from the team right in front of them out to the one(s) who will be waiting in the first, second, and, if things break our way, third/fourth rounds of the playoffs.
So if things get a little rocky in terms of score lines or Ws and Ls, I’d countenance not panicking. Just hope it is all part of the plan.
