The Brew Hoop Podcast Episode 106: The Offseason (So Far) Recap

Tuckers and Allens and Portises, oh my

NBA: Memphis Grizzlies at Milwaukee Bucks Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

After several weeks off recovering from the Milwaukee Bucks championship glow, Riley and Kyle reconvened the Brew Hoop podcast to chat about how the franchise has approached their offseason so far. But first...a very important discussion of local burger joints and how they all stack up.

From there, they discuss Milwaukee’s approach to the draft, namely, Jon Horst saving us all several hours of waiting by trading early. The selections, Mamu and Georgios, may not be much to write home about, but they’re fliers and Mamu could provide some entertainment in the impending Summer League contests to come.

Afterwards, they talk about the decision to let PJ Tucker walk in free agency rather than re-sign. The sequencing of that and the Bobby Portis deal may’ve had a lot to do with the outcry, but there are plenty of genuine concerns behind the move. The front office rebounded in the days to come, partially by shoring up their guard depth with the signings of George Hill and trading a few extra second rounders Jon Horst nabbed on his draft night exchange to secure Grayson Allen in the final year of his rookie deal.

It’s been an adventurous few weeks for the Milwaukee Bucks with more to come. The podcast recordings may be more sporadic in the offseason, but we may have to open up a mailbag along the way to fill the gaps. Until then, enjoy Summer League!
