Howdy, partners. If you’re here, that means you at least have some interest in the Milwaukee Bucks. More importantly, if you’re here, that means you’re a member of the community and you have a vested interest in maintaining Brew Hoop as a place for constructive conversation, discussion, and debate about the Bucks, basketball, the NBA, and anything else that might intersect our favorite team and sport.
We do what we can to keep the forum in good shape. Sometimes things get out of hand. Sometimes tempers flare and the conversation becomes something else. Sometimes the community is infiltrated by riff-raff, and our staff’s responsibility is to get all of that under control. We do a pretty good job (though we could always do better), and the main reason for our success is the dedication from each of you, for demonstrating the type of behavior we expect from everybody who participates in this forum.
SB Nation helps too. Just recently, the mothership released the updated Community Guidelines, and they’ve made some worthwhile changes. Here’s what they have to say:
Anyone who doesn’t follow these rules when engaging in our communities will at best be removed from the conversation, and at worst will end up banned from that community. These decisions will be made at the discretion of our community managers and other SB Nation personnel. Community managers and moderators have final say on interpretation of violating our community guidelines, and on all decisions resulting in a warning, suspension, and/or ban.
If you see any of these things happening in our communities, please flag it and it will be reviewed. If you see it happening on social media or elsewhere, flag it to the community manager or team brand managers, who should be listed on our masthead. You can also reach out via our contact form.
Consider this post not just an announcement that the rules have been tweaked, but also as an opportunity to give feedback. Have we held up our end of the bargain? Have things been what you expected them to be (especially since the migration to Coral), or do you find that some things just aren’t right? We want to know, so tell us in the comments!
Staff opportunity!
If you got this far, congratulations! We purposefully pushed this further down into a post that (hopefully) attracts people who are already established Brew Hoopers.
In short, we have an opportunity to add to our staff mid-season. Writing posts is always something we’re interested, but we’re specifically looking for someone who can help Brew Hoop manage the social media part of our operation. If you are interested in this opening (and you can stomach spending time on Twitter), please reach out to us at brewhoop@sbnation.com.
