Top 20 NBA Duos for 2022/23

Just What It Sounds Like

1. Lebron James & Anthony Davis

  • despite struggling majorly and missing the playoffs, I think Lebron and AD, when motivated and healthy (two big IFs at this point) are still the toughest duo in the league due to their size, versatility, and all-around impact

2. Kevin Durant & Kyrie Irving

  • despite struggling and losing in the first round, I think Durant and Kyrie, when motivated and playing in a city that doesn't require vaccines, are still deadly

3. Joel Embiid & James Harden

  • this duo may have more playoff and long-term viability questions than any other, but they are still both near the top of their position and offer a variety of skills that make them tough to deal with

4. Kawhi Leonard & Paul George

  • the original combo of two huge superstar wings, the Clipper duo has faced multiple injury setbacks, but if they can get healthy, I think they are going to look like a better version of Tatum and Brown

5. Giannis Antetokounmpo & Khris Middleton

  • great complementary games and guys who work hard every possession on both end. Khris may not be the level of star of most guys above him, but he's still a stellar Big 2 component

6. Devin Booker & Chris Paul

  • Paul is aging, but Booker still has some room to improve to make up the difference. Chemistry questions may rear their head this year though.

7. Giannis Antetokounmpo & Jrue Holiday

  • yep, that's right, I think Giannis and Jrue are a top 10 duo in the league. I think it is hard to say they aren't honestly, given Jrue is a near-all star level guard whose defense and size make him a tough matchup for every guard in the league

8. Steph Curry & Klay Thompson

  • this pair used to be so much higher, but I don't think Klay is getting back to his former levels on either end of the court. Still, they're a great combo

9. Ja Morant & Jaren Jackson Jr.

  • this ranking is going to require some further development from JJJ, but I think he may be able to get there. When he isn't in foul trouble, he is a very impactful defender and spaces the floor on offense very well too

10. Donovan Mitchell & Rudy Gobert

  • this duo will self-destruct in 3...2...1...

11. Nikola Jokic & Jamal Murray

  • we really don't know what Murray will look like when he finally returns. He might be able to push this duo higher, or he might not be able to get back to where he was before, either physically or mentally

12. Steph Curry & Draymond Green

  • this represents a rather large drop-off for Draymond from his former levels, which I think is warranted. Still, Steph carries him to high heights

13. Ja Morant & Desmond Bane

  • Bane is one of the most underrated players in the league in my opinion, even on his own team due to teammates like the vastly overrated Dillon Brooks monopolizing shots

14. Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown

  • this may seem ridiculously low for the pair poised to win the NBA Finals, but I think Boston is winning due to depth of talent and coaching as much as to star power, and neither of these guys is really blowing the roof off consistently

15. Brandon Ingram & Zion Williamson

  • Zion actually playing would be important for this duo's place on the list

16. Steph Curry & Andrew Wiggins

  • will Wiggins continue to improve as a player? I think it is possible due to his athleticism and the Golden State developmental system. He would need to for a place to be justified here, but I think it can happen

17. DeMar DeRozan & Zach LaVine

  • solid duo, nothing special, but I'm sure they're fun if you're a Bulls fan

18. Anthony Edwards & Karl-Anthony Towns

  • I think this will be the year when Anthony overtakes Karl-Anthony as the team's clear best player (and it probably happened last year). That's good news for Minnesota as KAT is better served as a sidekick

19. Trae Young & John Collins

  • another duo unlikely to actually be together this coming season, and they have some clear flaws as a duo (defense), but are still very talented and tough to deal with consistently. They've had a lot of success together

20. Khris Middleton & Jrue Holiday

  • yes, I honestly think this is deserved. Who else are you putting here?
