Bucks to Play Knicks in Quarterfinals of the In-Season Tournament

Let the games begin!

NBA: New York Knicks at Milwaukee Bucks Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

After beating the Miami Heat last night to clinch Group B, the Milwaukee Bucks will face the New York Knicks in the quarterfinals of the knockout rounds of the NBA’s In-Season Tournament. The game will take place in Milwaukee at Fiserv Forum on Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. CST. Milwaukee also claimed the top spot in the East side of the bracket thanks to a point differential (+46) over the Indiana Pacers who were the only other 4-0 team (+39).

The Knicks got in as the Eastern Conference Wild Card after beating the Charlotte Hornets 115-92 to give them a point differential of +42. That differential put them ahead of the other 3-1 teams out East including the Clevland Cavilers (+29), the Orlando Magic (+22), and the Brooklyn Nets (+20).

The last time these two teams played was back on Nov. 3 for their first In-Season Tournament game. The Bucks went on to win that game 110-105, thanks to 30 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while Giannis had 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Jalen Brunson had a prolific scoring game for the Knicks, going for 45 points on 17-for-30 shooting from the floor (56.7%). Former All-Star Julius Randle did have 16 points, but shot 25% from the floor and went 1-for-9 from beyond the arc. This happening means that the Bucks will play the Knicks five times this year, one more than their division rivals the Bulls, Cavaliers, Pistons, and Pacers.

If the Bucks win, they will play a semifinal game on either Dec. 7 or 8 against either the Indiana Pacers or Boston Celtics in Las Vegas. If they lose, they will instead play a regular season game against some other opponent (perhaps the loser of the Indy/Boston matchup?) Should be a good one next Tuesday inside Fiserv Forum.
