In a game where they desperately needed a victory, the Milwaukee Bucks handled the Boston Celtics with ease, 135-102.

NBA.com Box Score

The Bucks were in dire need of a strong start to a game, and that’s exactly what they got. Fueled by Damian Lillard early on, the offense immediately began to find a groove. A 20-6 run would close out the first quarter, providing Milwaukee with a 41-23 lead after a period of play.

Bobby Portis and Giannis Antetokounmpo combined for a 20-0 run throughout the second. All in all, it was a 25-0 run by the Bucks before Boston snapped it. That helped construct a massive lead for Milwaukee, as they carried a lopsided 75-38 advantage after two quarters.

Boston began the second half with all their starters out. That wasn’t too big of a surprise, considering they were on a back-to-back. As you could guess, there was no coming back from them in this one. Milwaukee wrapped up the third being up 111-70.

Smooth sailing lay ahead for the Bucks, as the time melted away through the fourth with reserves seeing the bulk of the action. The game ultimately ended with a 135-102 Bucks win.

Stat That Stood Out

It was really the first half that defined tonight. The Bucks were desperate for something to flip the script from their recent games, and tonight’s offensive showcase did that. A flurry of runs pieced together a 75-38 halftime lead for Milwaukee. From Bucks PR, the largest halftime leads in franchise history:

41 (77-36) - Nov. 22, 2021 vs ORL
39 (77-38) - Jan. 13, 2022 vs GSW
38 (78-40) - Dec. 26, 1978 vs DET
37 (75-38) - Tonight vs BOS

It’s exactly what the doctor ordered for this Bucks squad. It seemed as if this win was nearly a must-win. We’ll now see if they can carry the momentum into Saturday night’s matchup against Golden State.
