Report: Bucks to unveil new arena design by the end of the month

According to Rich Kirchen of the Milwaukee Business Journal by way of WISN's Mike Gousha, the Bucks may be ready to unveil the design plan for the new downtown by the end of August. Bucks President Peter Feigin was recently on Gousha's show "Up Front with Mike Gousha" and did not provide any details, but Bucks spokesman Jake Suski said more details would be shared in the coming weeks, according to Kirchen. Back in April, the Bucks unveiled preliminary renderings of the arena and entertainment plaza as well as additional ancillary development including a new practice facility and commercial and residential properties. The proposed ancillary development would be built in various phases over the next decade and privately financed at a cost of roughly $500 million. The Bucks hope to get a shovel in the ground for the new arena by October or November, so an end-of-August release for a design seems right on schedule.

Passing the bill as-is would allow Gov. Scott Walker to sign it into law, while any changes would require another Senate approval. While Republicans have a 63-36 majority in the Assembly, it's been estimated that 15 Democratic votes could be needed to pass the bill. As a result, legislators were planning to work the weekend in order to finalize the details of a package that could go to a vote on Tuesday.
