Deer Diaries, Ep. 164: The 20 Game Mark

Looking at the Milwaukee Bucks through the season’s first quarter

In many ways, deciphering any given regular season in quarter chunks is just an attempt to create analytical through purely arbitrary means. The Milwaukee Bucks of the first 10 games of the year were a different bunch than the ones we saw in games 11 through 20. At the same time something can be said for 20 games as being a point at which we’ve collected a large enough sample size to begin drawing reasonable conclusions.

In that spirit, Kyle, Van, and I got together last night to talk about the past two weeks of Bucks play and items of note a fourth of the way through the year. The offense looks elite and still has more to add (prolific Giannis/Dame P&R, anyone?), the defense may have reached its ceiling in the high 20s/low teens in to league-wide metrics, and the next fold we’re keeping an eye out for are personnel changes tied to trades or injury. We get into all that, plus:

  • Riley asks the guys whether Giannis’s 3PAr (less than 10%) vindicates Adrian Griffin
  • Sonic the Hedgehog goes under Kyle’s film critic eye
  • Van takes us Up Nort to uncover the fine tunes of The Happy Schnapps Combo
  • I’ve got a new journal to review
  • And more!
