Good news for the Bucks' backourt: Charles Gardner reports that Beno Udrih did not suffer a concussion after a taking a knee to the back of the head in Tuesday's preseason game against the Cavaliers in Canton, Ohio. Udrih underwent a CT scan at a local hospital before returning to the arena and flying back to Milwaukee with his teammates. No word yet on whether the injury would impact his availability for Saturday night's game against the Pistons, but presumably it won't be a long-term concern for a Bucks squad already missing combo guard Doron Lamb.

Udrih fell backwards after drawing a charge and clipped Sanders' knee as he hit the deck, immediately slumping in pain before eventually walking off under his own power. Monta Ellis and camp invite Eddie Gill filled in for Udrih for the remainder of the evening as the Bucks cruised to a 97-80 win in their preseason opener.

Losing Udrih for an indefinite period would have been a major blow to a Bucks squad already coping with the loss of Lamb, who tore ligaments in his left elbow just days before camp officially opened. His return has yet to be pinpointed, though no one seems to expect him back before the regular season. And in case you're curious (or feeling paranoid): In the event that Udrih, Ellis or Brandon Jennings went down with an injury, the Bucks would need to clear one of their 15 guaranteed contracts in order to add another player.

Beno Udrih will not return to the Bucks' first preseason game after hitting his head on a teammates' knee.

Milwaukee Bucks guard Beno Udrih suffered a head injury midway through the first quarter of the team's first preseason game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and according to a tweet from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Charles Gardner (relaying information from the Bucks organization), Beno Udrih will not return to the game. Udrih stumbled backwards and knocked his head against the knee of teammate Larry Sanders after taking a charge.

With Udrih unavailable, the Bucks have played new acquisition Marquis Daniels more heavily than expected. At halftime, his 13 minutes were fourth highest on the team. If Udrih misses additional time, it could make Daniels a regular fixture in exhibition play. Doron Lamb is unavailable to the team after suffering a torn ligament in his elbow during team activities prior to training camp.

Some of the Bucks' camp invites would presumably see the court a bit earlier than expected as well, but extra pressure will be placed on Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis to carry the load if Udrih misses regular season games. Ellis saw minutes at point guard next to Daniels after Udrih's injury, while camp invite Eddie Gill saw PG minutes in the second half.

Here is a GIF of the incident:

Beno Udrih suffered a head injury when his head knocked against Larry Sanders' knee. He walked to the locker room on his own power.

Less than a quarter into the Bucks' first preseason game and they're already experienced an injury to a key player.

Beno Udrih suffered a head injury as he fell to the floor about midway through the first quarter of the Milwaukee Bucks' opening preseason game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Udrih fell backwards and knocked the back of his head against teammate Larry Sanders' knee. He stayed on the floor for a few minutes after the impact as he was tended to by the training staff. Thankfully he didn't seem to exhibit any immediate numbness or other major symptoms. Eventually he got to his feet and walked to the locker room without assistance.

The NBA adopted more stringent head-injury/concussion rules last season, requiring players to pass a number of tests before they can be cleared to return to game action. It's too early to say the injury was definitely a concussion, but such an injury could result in Udrih missing a majority of the preseason.

Larry Sanders is fine, by the way.
